The device active light does show on the IOGear model, as a solid blue LED. They both show as using the same internal hardware, according to lsusb (bus and device #s for the 2.0 port): Bus 001 Device 086: ID 14cd:1212 Super Top microSD card reader (SY-T18) I have tried both in a USB 2.0 port, and the IOGear in a 3.1 port. I have two USB-based SDcard readers, one a Stromboli model (no real details available), and the other an IOGear GFR204SD. ![]() No device listing for it appears in /dev/disk, either. ![]() The device does not appear in /run/media or /run/user. systemctl shows the autofs service as active. running Manjaro 18.1 with XFCE as the desktop, and Thunar-volman installed and set up to auto-mount mass storage devices. My system is a custom build, Ryzen 3 2200g on an MSI B350M mobo, 16 GiB DDR4 2400 RAM, using the APU (I doubt that those details are relevant, but it is better to give a little to much than too little). VFAT and exFAT support is enabled via FUSE, as far as I can tell. Etcher does not detect any removable mass storage. I have tried with several different SDCards, including ones which I had written with a different (now out of service) Manjaro 18.1 system using the same readers. I am trying to use Etcher to write to some blank SD cards, but while the card readers I have tried using are detected as such, the file system is not detecting any of my cards themselves as block devices.
